Precision Control of Production & Research Facilities

Swine Confinement
Sanitary environments keep animals healthy.  Slatted flooring allows for separation of manure from the animal and easy transport from the facility.

Natural Ventilation
Well designed natural ventilation provides the opportunity for a high degree of environmental control and uniformity while retaining open air production abilities.

  Sidewall Fan
Well designed fan powered ventilation systems provide the optimum level of environmental control precision and consistency.
AEA has experience trouble-shooting animal and people environments in hundreds of facilities with varying performance demands in all kinds of climates and for all species. In addition to state-of-the-art production livestock facilities, our experience includes many high tech and specialized research environments for universities, government research facilities, and commercial pharmaceutical and genetic engineering research and production facilities. High capacity efficient production of meat, milk, and eggs in confinement production facilities requires a high degree of environmental control to provide optimum and consistent conditions for the animals to thrive and express their genetic potential to be productive. Two of the primary areas of environmental control involve sanitation and ventilation.

Sanitation in confinement facilities involves the consistent and effective removal of manure and urine from the presence of the animals being housed to the extent consistent and necessary for a high health status. AEA has pioneered and perfected many of the approaches utilized broadly in leading edge livestock production today as well as some of the highly specialized approaches utilized only in uniquely designed research facilities. This expertise includes widely applicable automatic flush systems with capabilities ranging from small facilities to large and long flush gutters utilized in the dairy industry.

Ventilation goals include the delivery of the proper amount of air, with proper velocity and trajectory, equally, to each animal space under all environmental conditions. AEA’s experience in trouble shooting ventilation conditions and performance in hundreds of facilities documents that these are goals which elude most designers, builders, and owners of confinement animal production facilities. The financial status of existing facilities which aren’t performing well imposes a high priority on simple, practical, and effective solutions. AEA has been most successful at meeting those goals.
